The early signs of winter were starting to creep up on the lands of Anikira. The air was getting a chill to it and the temperatures were starting to drop. There were nights where it was so cold that Brienne could see her breath in the air. This was definitely her least favorite time of the year. Her body had prepared for the change in seasons but the air still found a way to pierce her skin. Each time it did, a high pitched yip would escape from her maw. The uniquely marked female had been lucky so far with being able to find shelter so that she could escape from the unfavorable weather if needed. The weather was getting harsher now and Brienne knew that she might not be able to find shelter as easily soon. Perhaps she should have sought a more permanent place to stay. The she wolf had been a loner all of her life since her family never laid claim to one. The thought of joining one after leaving her two mothers never really crossed her mind until now. The hybrid canine new that joining one would be her best bet so she needed to find one sooner rather than later.
So far her travels hadn’t turned up any active packs which Brienne found odd since she had walked through multiple territories. Her desperation started to grow with every step she took since the temperature was starting to get lower than it had been these past couple days. However, as she continued to look for somewhere she began to realize that her background may not be a favorable one to most. As far as Brienne knew, females were hunters not fighters. It was what she was trained to be so the brown and ivory female wasn’t sure if she could accept the rank of the hunter because it would hurt her pride. There was also the fact that her sexual orientation wasn’t that of a typical wolf. Brienne liked the company of both males and females which made her bisexual. It isn’t something she leads with but she doesn’t really hide it either because she had accepted who she was. It was hard to do so but being raised by a lesbian couple really helped her with realizing that it was okay to be who she was no matter what others might think.
Finally, the scent of markers caught Brienne’s attention. The scent marker wasn’t as fresh as she would prefer but it wasn’t stale either. As she drew closer, the canine started to enter a vast set a plains that went as far as the eye could see. Brown eyes scouted the area but there was no one to be seen except for some small prey that popped up from the tall grass every now and then. The Arctic mix started to take a step forward but stopped herself before her paw could reach the ground. If she stepped in any further, she would be trespassing and that wasn’t something she wanted to do. Brienne positioned herself back to how she was originally and sat on her haunches. It would be best to just wait for someone to come meet her but first she would have to announce her presence.
