Winter has gripped Anikira alongside a dangerous and deadly disease that has begun to spread throughout the continent. Three brothers emerged from the Southern Isles searching for a cure. Will they find it on Anikira?
Snow is falling all over the North while Winter brings the wet season to the south. The disease is slowly spreading, and so far there is no cure in sight. Who will find it? And will it be in time to save Anikira and The Southern Isles?
She was beginning to feel lonely as she tried to remember the last time she spoke to someone. Fel and Mabon had yet to return from her daughter’s training. The ivory and grey female had begun to wonder if they would ever come back. If that ended up being the case, it would be heartbreaking and she would miss them dearly. Atrius had all but disappeared and his scent was long gone from from Elysium’s lands. That left only her other two children and the occasional ghostly visit from her father. Ronin and Stolas had began to live their own lives but thankfully stayed in the pack though their company was very rare. However, when it boiled down to it, it was a life she chose to live, not one that she had to live. With Fel’s absence the pack was left in her lands so she could have always gone out to recruit or look for a new slave for the pack but she never did. It could be said that she had grown rather careless about most things. It was a mentality she needed to break out of and that she could as long as she made the effort.
The Devil of Elysium had finally decided to go out and recruit. Whenever Fel returned, Yara didn’t want him to come back to a barely thriving pack. She should have done it a long time ago but with the temperature dropping with each passing day and winter was just around the corner so there had to be wolves that were seeking shelter. The Tundra mix was determined to find someone today so she trotted off towards the Kamari borders so she could make her way to loner territory. Before she could cross over, the ivory and grey female had to remark the borders. It had been a long while since she had done it so the markings were all but gone by now. It had been lazy on her part but at least Yara was finally doing it now rather than later. Before she could get to the territory line, an unfamiliar scent caught her attention. It appeared that someone was trespassing on her and Fels’ land. An irritated growl erupted from her throat as she made her way to the unwelcomed guest.
Once her icy blue eyes eventually spotted the individual that had caught her attention. The canine was an Isles Wolf, a breed she hadn’t seen since she was much younger. Yara had always thought them to be attractive but this one wasn’t quite easy on the eyes. He was underweight and had patches of fur missing throughout his body and there was just something odd about him causing her to approach him slowly. It was obvious that the Elysium Devil was the smaller one but she held her frame as high as she could to assert her dominance because that is what Fel would want her to do and knew it was something she needed to do. The odds were definitely not in her favor but she would do her damn best to stand her ground,
“You know you should ask before entering a pack’s territory, right?”
He was still searching, and so far he had not had much luck with finding the cure. The disease had spread throughout his entire body now, and he knew that it was only a matter of time before it took over completely and killed him. It had taken perhaps six months for the fastest record of the disease killing someone back home, but he had to make sure he found the cure and returned it to his family before then. He and his brothers were the only hope left for the Southern Isles, and he refused to fail. With winter coming quickly to Anikira, the male was doing his best to get used to the cold that his homeland never really experienced. Would it destroy their hope for a cure? He prayed that it would not, but his mind told him it was incredibly likely that it would. If the plant they searched for was in the north, he had to find it before the snows fell or they would be forced to pray they made it through the winter to find it in the spring.
But perhaps their flower would be stronger than the cold.
That was only wishful thinking. He heard her steps before her voice echoed around him. His green eyes slowly searched the landscape around him and eventually found her pale face. They narrowed for a moment in reaction to her words, and already he could feel the rage burning behind them. Who did she think she was? His ears flicked backwards and his lips twitched to show off a hint of his teeth as a growl rumbled in his throat in response. He probably should have spoken first, but he had less and less control over the anger with each passing day. She had, unfortunately, not caught him on a good day. Antioch had always been calm and collected before the disease, but it was as if the virus had changed him far beyond recognition. He was no longer himself, and with the exception of his determination to find a cure, he was nothing but a pale shadow of his former self.
"If I had stopped to ask your permission, I would have ruined your day sooner." He said, his voice deep and breaking, and laced with a sickly cough that he barely managed to control long enough to speak. His ear twitched as he spoke, his head tilting towards the motion slightly in an uncomfortable twitch that seemed to move to a different place on his body every time it appeared. "If you had an ounce of intelligence in your pretty little body you would walk away now. I care little about your pack." He said, easily assuming she was putting on a show of bravery and boldness to protect a pack that he knew nothing about. He had no desire to take over packs or destroy families, he simply wanted to find the cure to the disease and take it back home with him. But the virus demanded he destroy anything that stood in his way, and the tiniest redeemable bit of him hoped that she would not block his search path for too long. At least for her own sake, for her death would not stop him from succeeding and saving his world back home.
It wasn’t surprising when the male didn’t take her dominance seriously. He was at least over half a foot taller than her and she couldn’t even begin to think of how much more he weighed. Yara couldn’t let that get to her because she had others depending on her. Fel wasn’t the most trusting male but he left Elysium to her. Not only did he trust her but he also had faith in her capabilities. If she didn’t live up to who she built herself up to be, the Tundra mix would be disappointing the massive brute. Disappointment was a feeling she got used to at an early age but this was different. The pair’s relationship had evolved into something completely unexpected, at least for her. The Elysium Devil knew from the start that she was more than likely going to be mated to the then alpha to help the packs’ numbers grow. They did exactly that but it ended up with the ivory and grey female forming feelings for her leader. The distance between them had just deepened her feelings for him. However, this was not the time to be thinking of her woes. Yara had to focus on the present and deal with the intruder.
“Someone already beat you to ruining my day, better luck next time,” the she wolf sneered. The lie easily released itself from Yara’s maw. Today has been just like every other day up until now. Elysium rarely had visitors so the brute’s presence merely peaked her curiosity. The rough coughs erupting from his chest paired with the spots where his skin was festering made the Tundra mix realize that the male was chronically ill. This cause the female to take a couple steps backwards. This was unlike any sickness she had seen before so she wasn’t sure if it was contagious or not. No matter what the disease was, she didn’t want it anywhere near her pack. They were low enough in numbers that she couldn’t afford having any of them die, especially her children. The Isles male looked frail so how hard could it be to get him to leave?
“If you has any intelligence you would walk away. You may not care about my pack but I do and we don’t need some diseased individual like you coming around in the first place.” Part of Yara actually felt bad for the guy because his sounds looked painful and he looked overall miserable. If he hadn’t been an asshole, she might have considered letting him stay the night and seeing if there would be anything she could do for him. However, his remarks had caused him his chance. If this came down to a fight then she wouldn’t hesitate to fight. Her duty was not only to lead the pack but also to protect it then she would do exactly that. There was always the possibility that one of her children were nearby which would make them be able to help her outnumber the male.
Had the male been capable of humor in that moment, perhaps he would have laughed at her retorts. But he had no desire to laugh or enjoy the moments they spent insulting each other. Instead, he quickly began to lose his grip on the mild amount of self control that he had holding himself together. The disease was taking over, and it would likely not end well for the smaller creature before him. A low growl rumbled in his throat as she demanded he leave, and instead of turning away and heading in the opposite direction, he took a threatening step towards her. "Perhaps it is time someone taught you how to respect those superior to you." He said, his ears flicking backwards and lips lifting to show off his teeth in a more than threatening way.
But he did not waste much time with idle threats. His paws shoved him forward, jaws parted and a snarl bursting from his throat. He no longer wished to talk, and if this pathetic excuse for a pack leader was going to stand in his way of searching for the cure, then he was going to remove her from the equation. Perhaps the old Antioch would be horrified by his actions, but the male he once was had disappeared. He no longer had control over himself, and he could no longer stop his body from doing as it pleased. The disease had taken the wheel, and it wanted nothing more to spread and destroy. The lives of others no longer mattered, and the well-being of Anikira - and even The Southern Isles - were unimportant.
His attack was sudden and violent, and his teeth aimed for any part of her that he could make contact with. Had he been more aware of himself and the situation, he might have been more careful to judge his leap and aim his strike. But the intention behind the attack was not well-planned or thought out. The goal was to simply attack and do as much damage as possible, to bite and spread the disease without a second thought. Her pack did not matter, and even as he felt himself flying through the air at her with his jaws open wide, the cure held no purpose in his mind. Violence and death were all that held merit within him, and his disease-ridden body was more than happy to oblige him.
Fel had picked an awfully bad time to be away from the pack. The smaller canine was the only line of defense at the moment. Ice blue eyes intently watched the larger wolf as she waited for his next move. Yara had demanded the Isle brute to leave but the sharp look in his eyes made her feel like he wasn’t going to comply. The Tundra mix would continue to stand her ground for the time being but how long she could was to be determined. The Elysium Devil didn’t think it would be long though given the fact the the male didn’t seem to be complying with her demands. His green eyes were filled with rage that didn’t seem to be just at her but everything. It seemed like she was just something that was in the way. The ivory and grey she wolf didn’t have the slightest clue of what the lilac point’s rage was stemming from. Whatever it might be, it was what was driving him at this very moment and it didn’t seem like he was going to tolerate her trying to stop him as he began to growl are bare his teeth at her.
Everything happened quicker than Yara had expected it to. The intruder exposed all of his teeth accompanied by a deep a low growl that rumbled from his chest and took a step toward her instead of away like she had demanded. It was obvious that he wasn’t going to play any games with the smaller canine. The Isles brute threatened to teach her a lesson. The Elysium Devil knew that she was in grave danger and the inevitable was about to happen. Fel was much bigger than the lilac point male so she shouldn’t be as afraid of him but the intense rage that radiated from his made him much more deadly.
His intentions were clear and within a blink of an, the larger wolf went in for the attack. Yara had no time to react so he was able to get a direct hit on her neck. The brute’s teeth sank deep into her skin causing blood to ooze from the wound. Waves of pain washed over her entire body as cries emitted from her maw. He was a swift move away from completely incapacitating her. The ivory and grey canine’s life was in his paws now. Yara wasn’t completely sure whether he wanted her to die or not but it wouldn’t surprise if the later happened. Thoughts of Fel, her son’s, and Elysium rushed through her mind. The Tundra mix wasn’t ready to leave any of them yet so there had to be something she could do.
“You smell of the Southern Isles, I thought the tunnel was closed long ago. Why are you all back here?” The words were hard to get out of her maw causing her to stammer at parts. When she was finished, Yara had to gasp for air more than she already had to do. The Tundra mix thought that maybe she could try and deescalate the situation some since it was really weird that they had come over here. Was there something going on that she didn’t know about? Whatever the reason was, it seemed really important to him so hopefully he would talk.
Luckily for the female, he missed his original intended target. Still, his teeth closed on her neck, just not close enough the jugular to do any deadly damage. But he held onto her, even as she screamed and collapsed in his grasp. It was only when she spoke to him that he finally released her. A brief flash of the old male he used to be moved across his expression for a brief second as he stepped backwards to look down at the blood that now stained her pale coat. It was not a surprise that she recognized him as an Isles Wolf, but it did shock him that she was attempting now to talk her way out of the situation. Perhaps it was that surprise that anchored him into reality in that moment, but he forced himself to take another step backwards and lower his hips into a sitting position in the hope that the greater contact with the ground would keep him from losing his temper once more.
But the he would need the female's help to do that now as well. If she angered him again, he would surely kill her. "I need to find the cure." He said, certain she would easily understand what disease he was talking about. A disease that he had now most likely just passed onto her. The guilt weighed heavily on his chest in that moment, making his ears flick backwards and his eyes close for a brief second or two before opening and focusing back on her form once more. His breathing became labored as well, and he coughed painfully several times before he sank down into a laying position and closed his eyes. The coughing continued for a few more moments before he gathered himself and panted softly, his eyes opening again to narrow in her direction as he analyzed her reaction to his words. But his mind was fuzzy, and though he was certain she would not risk attacking him in reproach, he still could not tell what she was thinking.
The small female wasn’t ready to die just yet. She was only about three years old now so she still had several years ahead of her. However, here was death staring the Tundra mix in the face inching closer and closer. Yara would be losing more than just her loved ones because all the potential she had to become a true leader would go to waste as well. The Elysium Devil had been on the search for a new slave which is what the pack really needed to help their numbers. It would also bring in a new bloodline since the only active members were her own kin. A female would have worked best so that she could provide a possible mate for one of her son’s. They were still too young to impregnate a she wolf but it would give them time to form a relationship if one were to. If it came down to a male, Yara would just have him help recruit. Her only daughter was gone and she refused to mate with anyone else but Fel. There was still the chance that he would come back so the ivory and grey female didn’t want to jeopardize anything.
The pain continued to writhe her body the longer the male held onto her neck. Breathing was starting to become difficult as she started to go into shock. Yara had lost more blood than she had originally thought as icy blue eyes glanced down at the puddle of blood forming.beneath her paws. There wasn’t an excessive amount there but it was enough to start making her feel a little light headed causing her vision to get blurry. The Elysium Devil really hoped that the words she got out would cause the male to speak and possibly focus his attention on something else. It was definitely a long shot but maybe luck would be on her side and everything would work out the way she had wanted it to. If she was able to find out what the male wanted, there was a possibility that she could always help him with whatever it was that angered him so much and as long as it wasn’t extreme, she would do anything. Yara’s life was in his paws and all she wanted at this point was mercy.
Suddenly, the pressure around her neck began to go away as the male stepped away. It appeared that her distraction had worked but how long would it hold up? Yara was too weak to run away and it would be a terrible mistake to try and even do so because it would only make matters worse. His raspy voice caught her attention as he said that he needed to find the cure. At first, the Tundra mix was confused by what he meant because her mind was so hazy but after a few moments, it all came together. The brute was looking for a cure for the sickness that was plaguing him.The smaller wolf had no experience with the disease which would make her of little help but perhaps she could show him. If this disease was contagious then there was the possibility that the Elysium Devil could contract it now which meant that she wouldn’t be done with death just yet.
“This sickness you’re presenting is completely foreign to me so I don’t know what the cure would be. My lands are at your dispense to search and I will be more than happy to help you if needed. There is something I need to know though, am I going to have it now?”

His eyes narrowed at first as he watched her, seeing the blood dripping slowly from where his teeth had punctured her skin. When she spoke, something akin to a combination of pity and guilt crossed quickly over his face. She gave him free roam of her territory to search, but only after he had attacked her. Perhaps if she had allowed him to do so before hand then he would not have passed this disease on to her. When she asked if she would contract it, he sighed heavily and nodded his head slowly. "I am afraid it is passed through a bite, yes." He said, frowning and wincing slightly as he focused on the fact that her tortured future was now his fault. But he could not control himself, and he was barely holding back still. "We believe the cure is some sort of flower, but I do not know which." He said, looking down at his paws quietly for a moment.
He regretted biting her, and yet he did not know how to say so. The anger still burned within him, and that combined with the fact that she was very much a female in heat, he was still barely containing the urge to pounce on her. So he kept his distance. "Perhaps it is best that I search alone. Please tell your pack mates to avoid me, as I do not wish to make this mistake again. When I find the cure, I will bring it to you as well." He said, avoiding eye contact as he pushed himself up onto his feet and turned his back on her. He needed to put more distance between them, and he needed to continue the search for the cure. She had allowed him access to her lands, and he would search every inch of them for the flower no matter how long it took him. He would find it, and he would save his brothers, his family, and now the wolf he had pulled into this with them. Hopefully she would avoid biting anyone else, but he knew how her anger would grow, for even as he walked away he could feel it building inside of him once more.

Brunilda initially started on Anikira from Foraz. She had been hand-chosen by the Commander, Olympus herself. She along with her partner in position - Rhett, saved the pack from a nosey and no-good intruder. It was in her dedication to Olympus and Foraz, that he again picked her to bring forth a treaty between Aludri and Foraz - joining them together. She continues to be a strong character with a good sense of right and wrong. We cannot wait to see what Susy does with her next!
