Life on her own had not been nearly as exciting as Thea had been expecting, or rather hoping for. She had wanted to go off on her own adventures. Her life had seemed so boring and full of drama, and she hadn’t had much of a connection to most of her family. But what adventures? Where was she to start? She didn’t know where anything was or how to find adventures. Rather, the she-wolf had spent most of her days in the unclaimed lands of Anikira, doing whatever she could to make it on her own. She’d done quite well for herself. She hadn’t starved to death, at least. Yet, anyway. She was quick, quiet, stronger than she looked, a good hunter, a good fighter, and observant. She considered herself rather a jack of all trades. And she had had to learn everything on her own without a pack for protection.
The winter had been exceptionally difficult. The hardest part had just been staying warm enough and refusing to give in to the cold when it tired her out and told her she didn’t need to bother getting up. But she had made it, and she felt rather self-satisfied about it, as if it somehow proved that this was indeed the best path for her. She had been having doubts for a while about where she fit in, but it seemed more trouble than it was worth to do anything about it. Certainly she had too much pride to go crawling back to Saphira. And she was far too stubborn to admit defeat in anything.
Almathea looked down at the far-too-skinny rabbit she had managed to catch. It would be her first real meal in a little while. This was hardly the adventure she had dreamt of. And still, in this precise moment, she couldn’t find any reason to complain. Her mouth was salivating in anticipation of the warm, albeit small, meal that she was about to consume. Its scent filled her nostrils. But just before she could dig in, she noticed another scent, almost masked by the strong smell of the rabbit right in her face, but present nonetheless.
Instantly defensive of her hard-won kill, Thea’s hackles raised and she bared her teeth, hoping to dissuade any scavenger that might have wished to take it from her. “Show yourself!” she spat.
Other: yay! I've wanted her ever since she was designed! <3
